I just don't use any type of facial wash or creams on the area where I will attach the piece. You can just wash scalp and upper forehead with shampoo instead.

I think the general consensus on full caps is they are, overall, no more difficult that a topper. Pros and cons: + Very secure attachment + No blending issues (save time blending) + No colour issues ...

From what I can tell, people have gotten amazing results from wearing "partial" systems. If the colour match is right, when you cut it, it will blend right into your hair system and will look amazing....
