Well, depending on how low you want the density to be, just natural wear and tear will thin out a piece. However, if you want a quick fix, a thinning shears might help.

This one guy I know gets his cut down to a number 2, which is a 1/4 inch. I wouldn't personally go that short. I know my sides for blending in some areas are as short as a half inch.

I think if you got someone to cut the sides and back a bit better so that it blended, you would be alot happier. It seems to have a disconnected look right now.

I'd like to see pictures without the flash. If the flash makes that much of a difference, I can totally see a hover effect where the piece meets your side hair.
