Check the info link thread, there is a video there that show's how. Yes, trim lace right up to hl, regardless of what anyone else says, you need to trim lace to hl. That is the only way to guarantee...

I don't wear forwarded vent for that very reason, no flexibility. Check out my pics. All have flat back front.

Looks good and congrats on doing it all yourself. As for the Dermatch on the sides, consider flaps, you will have much better results and no Dermatch hassles. I went with flaps and it has worked out...
