I would think the fear of that would be very distracting, unless you are very cool about the unit being ripped off. Would (could) you consider using head protection?

Sorry, about the tangled hair, you can buy detangler at a pharmacy, or leave-in conditioner does something similar. Rub it gently onto the tangled bits being careful not to get it onto the base/knots...
