Yes, that's an Ilace base. Ilace is hair that is 'sandwiched' between two very fine layers of lace. The advantage is that the layers of lace completely cover up any of the knots and the hair looks like it's growing right out of the scalp. Another advantage is that these units last longer since the knots are 'sealed' between the lace and don't loosen up. The downside is that they aren't as undetectable as a lace unit where the unit meets the forehead and sides. But there's a solution to that---get 1" of French lace or SFS lace on the perimeter. That's what was done on that photo. It's called an Ilace island. There is no extra charge for that.
