Now this is realistic! (Photo) - ToplaceUSA - 04-24-2010 It used to be that hair pieces were called 'rugs.' And for good reason. They were thick and didn't show any scalp and it truly looked like a person had a 'rug' on their head. Showing scalp adds to the realism of a unit. Here's a photo of the top of Ruebin's head showing his Toplace unit. Notice how there is not a 'wall of hair.' Scalp is showing. Very realistic! RE: Now this is realistic! (Photo) - mcnash - 04-24-2010 John, correct me, but is that an I-lace base? If so, what are the advantages/disavantages compared to other bases. Thanks RE: Now this is realistic! (Photo) - ToplaceUSA - 04-24-2010 Hi Mnash, Yes, that's an Ilace base. Ilace is hair that is 'sandwiched' between two very fine layers of lace. The advantage is that the layers of lace completely cover up any of the knots and the hair looks like it's growing right out of the scalp. Another advantage is that these units last longer since the knots are 'sealed' between the lace and don't loosen up. The downside is that they aren't as undetectable as a lace unit where the unit meets the forehead and sides. But there's a solution to that---get 1" of French lace or SFS lace on the perimeter. That's what was done on that photo. It's called an Ilace island. There is no extra charge for that. Regards, John |
