Can you tell me about freestyle? Does the hair lay down going towards the forehead or away from the forehead?

Mostly down, I always advise ordering freestyle "Forward"

If you want to go with a completly combed down style order freestyle forward.

The reason I was asking is because the one I got seems to be totally combed back away from the forehead. Not what I thought it would be. I wanted it to be combed forward. When I get the cut-in will it be able to be combed forward in the same way...?
Are these things adjustable, or would it have to be "trained" to lay forward now?
Confusing...
