if u need help finding your hairline
i was reading where people where having trouble finding their hairline.this is the easiest way ive found.sounds technical its not. when your hairs on or you like your position take a shoestring, take tip of string and place on your inner eyebrown near your nose now run string up to front peak and mark that point on shoestring with sharpie now you have the exact starting point of your hairline using an unmovable point of refence your eyebrow.there should be minimum 4 fingers apart from brow to hairline,the golden ratio of facial symmetry is hairline to brow matches lenth of eyebrows to tip of nose and tip of nose to chin tip should all be equal to have a perfectly symmetrical face,no one does but closer to that you are better you look.so you can get the hairline right at least.also marking with brow pencil is harder,brow pencils are denser and stronger and drier an easy marker that will wipe away with no trouble is lipliner,it has no staying power.brow pencils are meant to grip.lip pencils have to be emoillent for lips.a brow pencil that touches any glue with grab and youll have a dark glue line.another trick is any hard plastic packaging ,you know the ones that are impossible to remove and you hate opening,take a flat piece from back of package lay your piece on it and trace your hairline onto it,cut out with exacto knife or blade.now you have a hard plastic template.once you have your peak or first dot made with your shoe string,place template agaisnt it and youll have your hairline and can easily mark temple points.sounds like alot but in long run you dont have postion repostion adjust you have exact perameters and its consistent.your hairline is always the same.also bonus tip if ur hairline and skin dont match exactly, in makeup hairlines are always contoured or darkened to make face more attractive,it enhances natural hairline,if you take a fan brush,google it,looks like a fan,picks up a small amount of pigment so you get light application.run brush across an eyebrow powder the color of your brows,yes eyebrow powder(ive used a grey eyebrow powder and a fan brush on photo shoots to make a model with shaved head look like the he had a few days regrowth all over and make a perfect hairline that lasted all day in a swimsuit shoot in a pool,just set with kryolan setting spray and its waterproof)so itll stay,dab dont rub hard,i dab it across hairline the lightly brush back n forth to blend,you dont need but a swipe or two,your just making a slight shadow that hair has to unify forehead and unit so theres no color differention or even use a powder bronzer.itll make the hairline and scalp the same at the joining point and make you look more sculpted.powder wont streak or run itll just wipe away may make your glue darker but in summer months when face is tan and unit might look lighter and make a visible line it conceals that.hope that wasnt super confusing if i didnt explain it well i can try again,i do this everyday of my life so i had to make it a stramline fool proof routine.just wanted to share.hope it helps somebody.

Too many variables, in my humble opinion, to go with the "4 fingers" above the brow test. I have large hands and the fingers that go with them. As a result, my fourth finger would align so high on my scalp that I'd be paying good money to look like I was balding.

The foregoing said, I'd suggest wrinkling your forehead and looking at your reflection in a well lit mirror. You will probably be able to discern from that where your original hairline used to be (even after all these years you'll see a little indention in the shape of a hairline -- or at least I can). Adjust your hairpiece hairline according to that, going a little higher if you wish as a concession to not being a kid anymore.

well realistically we can create a more esthetically pleasing look by trying to conform to the golden ratio of beauty.when im doing makeup on a model i literally measure the the length of her eyebrows to tip of nose then see how off her hairline is from that and i will shave back or contour and shade down her hairline to make her more symmetrical.the more we conform to symmetry the more pleasing we appear.kim kardashians makeup artist mario and i are actually good friends,i remember back in the day him telling me about some porn chick that was friends with paris hilton that he was working with that had the lowest hairline ever and him trying to figuring out how to tell her politely she was basically hairy as a wookie and had to move her hairline back,.he changed her by changing her hairline,look at pics before and after her hairline was moved back,it changed her completely.its worth a shot,remember gods in the deatils,anyway just thought id try to help

@imahologram
I appreciate what you're saying but its not applicable in all circumstances.
Fine if you're in your absolute prime of youth & seeking perfection, but at some point, that time passes.

I'd love to have the perfect balance of Justin Beiber's hairline, but I'm now officially middle-aged.

Its really tough admitting that and pushing your hairline back & adding recession to be age-appropriate.
It suits me less, but I have to be realistic and do it anyway.
It definitely takes years off me with it more forward, but for the people that know me & my age it would draw too much attention.
It would be too odd to be in a room with my contemporaries going thinner & receding and be the only one with a full head of hair!

ohh i completely agree about recession its necessary,what i meant was take for example tom ford who i know for a fact wears a piece.its only about having the tip at or near the original line,this viusally give people a frame work,you only need an optical cue or suggestion to make people register a frame of your face,recession is nessecary,its just allowing the peak to cue people to see your face in the correct proportions.i plan on receeding soon,

Interesting tip about Tom Ford's piece - that is very subtly done. I don't think you would ever guess if you weren't "in the know".

Got any other juicy gossip about celebrity wearers?
