A first time Ohio guy needs help
I'm in my mid-20s, and well, I guess this is truly the place to be to talk about something I hate talking about. Anyway, I need to get this done.

A quick story about me: I have a nice job where I can work from home. It's nice because, well since about October I've been wearing a hat in public. Not ideal, but I wanted to buy time for me to get this new hair. With the layoff of no one seeing, I'm hoping the transition will be smooth.

I am extremely nervous about getting things right. I don't want to work with ANYONE that I know. I've contacted a few stylists as well and no one will help me make a solid mold without me actually getting work done with them. I want to work with TopLace obviously.

So what I'm asking is if there is anyone out there in the Central Ohio area (or about a 2 hour radius), who could meet up and help me. I really don't know any other solution to this. I don't want anyone to know at first. If they figure out, they figure out. But I just don't want a person I know right away looking for imperfections and knowing right away it is a replacement. I just need a good mold done, and obviously if you also wear TopLace I'd like to see yours as well to get a better idea.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi OhioGuy.... firstly, welcome to the forum, secondly....relax man !! No need to be nervous of this process and the wearing -game. You don`t need anyone to help you make a template..it`s quite simply and easily done by yourself at home.In fact, I`d go so far as to assert that making the template empowers you and is the start of de-mystifying the whole thing...if you get someone else to do it,you`ll never learn and will still be `afraid` so just go for it yourself. There is a wealth of information and pic in the ``Info links for newbies`` at the top of the page above the forum ..Snipe took a lot of time and effort to put it together ..and it`s SO helpful, so have a read through it. I`ve lifted one link from page three of it and will paste it here....just the pics on how to make a template... http://s768.photobucket.com/albums/xx325...ideshow%3E
The only help you`ll need is to get it styled-in when it arrives...just arrange a stylist who`ll do that ..otherwise [if that proves problematic] Debbie can do it for you ....Toplace can send your system to her, and she`ll post it on to you once styled [ pics of yourself as you are now will help greatly] The template doesn`t have to be down to the nearest millimeter ..it`s simply an outline of you head-shape and the area which needs coverage....don`t fret over this..it`s very straightforward....just take your time. Many guys do their own cut-in and do great jobs too.. I know that`s daunting for a newbie, but, it just proves that this game is not as tricky as you imagine...yes there is a learning -curve as it`s `new`to you but it`s easy enough. If you can post a pic of your hair as it is now, we can give you hints on style/density etc. to order...best wishes, Paul.

Hi Ohio Guy,
Getting started is the hardest part. It's normal to be a little anxious over the transition. But once you get your unit you'll be glad you did--it will change your life for the better. Here's the stylists I have on file in Ohio. You'd better call them first and see if they'll make a template for you---some stylists make them and others don't.
Regards,
John

There you go now .. even if you do your own template, you`ve got stylists to choose from which is great..... hope to hear [ in time] how it all went... Paul.

RE: A first time Ohio guy needs help
You guys make it sound easy. I've already had one bad experience of getting some local guy to get me hair and it looked terrible. Actually, John I've spoken to you about the situation (not sure if you remember or not without me actually saying my name). Anyway, I just want to get this right and make it look natural. I just wish I had someone to give me some real type of advice with the template and such. I'm open to travel and meet if possible, just within reason. Maybe even a video chat type of thing. I'm not sure. My biggest fear is getting another piece that just looks terrible on my head, and then I'm stuck with no direction to go.

It is easy ..you have to ask yourself [in view of the experience you describe with that local guy] could it be any worse by ordering a very reasonably-priced system from Toplace ? What have you to lose ? You probably paid a high price for that crap system..... why don`t you book a video -consultation with Debbie and I`m sure she`d be able to talk you through making your template......I can assure you your system will look fine as long as you order the correct colour, density, and style ..Debbie will give you expert advice on those issues.....Toplace systems are high -quality all round. Making your own template is quite straight-forward....plenty good pics etc. on the `info links`` for newbies link/`sticky` up the top there... Paul.

RE: A first time Ohio guy needs help
Sometimes you have to sit back and think clearly about all of this. Think about what you are doing. None of this is rocket science or some elite technology that requires a specialist. When I started wearing hair I was just a 19 yr old kid. I had no real experience, I was a noob. But I just read up a little bit and got some basic info and just used common sense.

There is nothing to it. You just gotta keep calm, and keep your head and just think to yourself hey I could get my hair back for a good price, what do I really have to lose. let me try it. A template is just telling the factory the size and shape of your system. You will learn that sometimes you are the best person to rely on to get what YOU want.

Look at diff hair styles, determine the look or style you want to achieve. Than look at your head. Where are u thinning? Where would you like to replace your hair. All you need is saran wrap and tape. Your nervous tension is getting the best out of you. I am sure if you calm down and don't give in to your nerves and realize what you actually have to do, You could follow the instructions on making a template perfectly. There are plenty of tutorials out there and even videos. Type it in youtube. MB michigan baldy has a video of making a template.

Just follow the steps and try it. Try it once as a test run. Just for the hell of it, Do it with a clear head and not worry if u fuck up. and u will see what u need to do and it will put ur mind at ease.
