New Base Technology, Can somebody make sense of this?
I was just researching & came upon this Japanese site. It's been google translated so it doesn't make complete sense. Just thought I'd post it here & see if anyone knows exactly what it is? Is toplace already doing this?

Check this link out: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://translate.google.com.au/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.propia.co.jp/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpropia%26hl%3Den">http://translate.google.com.au/translat ... %26hl%3Den</a><!-- m -->

Found another little bit of info, quite interesting.

I cant understand the broken english of the first site.. But leave it up to the Japanese to invent something cool like that. What I like about it is they say no need for glue or anything, and its extremely thing that would be the holy grail of hair systems if it worked the way they say,, But who knows.

Propia is an injected skin base.
I guess they only last a few weeks, then you need a new one.
We were talking about this a year and a half ago on another hair forum.
Someone seen it on TV, like Future3000 or something.

I used a google translator program, it translated most of the page, I think it was saying that the material is durable, but very thin. At least thats what I got from it, but its still choppy english. They said something about not having to use any glue, or tape. Something about the material forms some kind of bond. Not sure if its chemically or with heat or whatever. Its interesting though. My personal feeling is that the last great breakthrough, if you can call it that, has been the super fine swiss lace. The injected lace or i-lace also made a stir for a little while, but I think the last best thing to come out was the sfs.

I feel the next breakthrough that will get me excited.. wont be a hair care product, a shampoo, or greater customer service, but it will be a new type of system, Either something that does not require glues or tapes,, Or perhaps a new skin material that is very easy to handle, durable, and looks as good as lace in the front. Or still even yet, a new type of adhesive that offers something brand new. To me there really has not been anything that fantastic or revolutionary in awhile.

Has this Japanese company gone into liquidation yet even though Tokyo court approved its application for protection from the creditors? I wish a company could come up something like this Japanese company. It has to last at least three months or so and not disposable.

The Tokyo District Court has authorized hairpiece maker Propia's application for protection from creditors under the fast- track corporate rehabilitation law, company officials said Wednesday.
Tokyo-based Propia went down with liabilities totaling 4.3 billion yen as of the end of March, according to the officials, who added that they are expecting support for the company's rehabilitation from another company.

Propia, known for its Hair Contact synthetic hair glued to adhesive thin films, chalked up sales of 4.3 billion yen in fiscal 2006 to March 31, 2007.

But the company incurred liabilities in excess of assets the following year as a result of high advertising and development expenses and the cost of recovering defective products.

For a moment I thought they finally started to use gecko tape as part of the base!

One day, when they do, not only will our wigs stay in place, we can even scale walls with them Wink <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081009/sc_nm/us_nano_glue_2">http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20081009/sc_ ... ano_glue_2</a><!-- m -->

I have Propia here, I will post photos when I get chance, The base is thin but very shiney in some lighting, Certainly NOT undetechtable in sunlight and direct light.

Also, IIRC they must use synthetic hair for these systems.
