He doesn't lose sleep over this *today*, when he is already a mega superstar. But I'm sure getting the lead role in "TopGun" wasn't that easy, when they probably looked for the "perfect" male look (and he wasn't a superstar back then), and he still got it.

And movies are all about creating that illusion ....

If the director asks you to don a wig to recreate a 'period'
look ... well .. if that's what the job calls for ....

Look at Mel Gibson ... Playing a period Scottsman ..
or a revolutionary soldier ... would you go on to debate
whether it is his real hair or not .....

Now ... if you were talking about these guys ..
when THEY APPEAR ON A TALK SHOW ... that's
different ....

For eg. Billy Bob Thorton ... obviously wears ...
And according to my hairdresser who used to work
for Farrell .... When you look at Billy Bob ... she
cringes .... that's FARRELL's work ....

But to many of the rich and famous who wouldn't
even consider checking into Toplace or Coolpiece ...
and place their trust in what their unlimited funds
can buy .... Farrell currently is Hollywood's best
option ... They JUST don't know any better ...

I've seen guys his age and older with obscenely thick hair - "wiggy" looking, but obviously natural.

I can really relate to that, Klifford. I suffered from Rickets as a child (parental negligience) and achieved a peak male adult height of 5"4. I spent the bulk of my teenage years and early adulthood pounding uselessly against what I believed were the prison walls of my own body. I wondered how any woman could ever love a man who could not gaze lovingly down on her or make her feel protected. Needless to say, the growth of my frontal cortex was not stunted. In that time, I aslo became deeply introsepctive and very serious academically. I accepted that I would not and could not ever be the type of male who turned heads or about whom girls bragged to their friends, but that I could, if I was courageous and patient enough, be the type who offers strength and stability and maybe even who others look up to. That is why I have decided to go to into medicine, so that I can devote my life to helping others. So what if w'ere short? At least we can always have handsome heads of hair, right? We should chat some time!

Absolutely Hairykrishna ! And I believe the impact of how you let what's in your heart and your self confidence shine through is much more important in it's impact on others than physical height. If you are tall and have good hair but project negativity then the good hair/height aren't going to get you very far !

My bosses boss has rediculously thick hair at 55 years old but it's his own ! :?

Just watched Cruise on the NY Time PBS Interview for an hour
this morning ... That certainly is HIS HAIR ... but he talked about
wearing wigs ... like when he played a bad guy ... he talked about
donning a grey haired wig ... and in other roles ...

But that's Hollywood folks ....

His real hair ... yes ... great genes ... it is thick ...
some of us 'HIT' the genetic lottery ... and some of
us got a Mars Bar.
