If do you go into a pool or water park and get your hair wet you should shampoo as soon as you get out to get the chlorine out. Natural water lakes are fine--they will have virtually no affect on your unit. Going to the ocean the salt water will also be tough on your hair. Shampoo after a dip in the salt water.

Can you shampoo the unit while it is on your head or do you have to take it off?

You can leave in on your head. Shampoo has only a minimal effect on the bond.

Yes, any type of hair is affected. Chlorine is a strong chemical that kills germs. It's tough on all hair.

My advise is to have a battered old piece lying around specially for these occasions! Then you can go in as much as you like, cos it's not your super-cool new piece.
