Any suggestions on what relaxants are best to use to reduce the curl on my hairpiece?

I have tried Ogilvie Straightner which works well...but i should warn you that it is possible that the unit may start to shed faster than normal...the product is not suppose to be used on chemically treated hair ...But the bottom line is does work. You will have to keep it conditioned well after the process as your hair will have a tendency to be somewhat dry. I f you need more answers you might email Debbie our resident hair wizard...she won't give you bad information she knows her stuff. Cheers

for a safer option, buy a perm formulated for color treated hair and simply comb it through the hair, let process while combing the hair straight, rinse and comb the neutralizer through. (just follow instructions minus the rolling part).

This is what I found. However, it is more for "real" hair.


Hair Straightening:


Hair Straightening, also known as relaxing, is the opposite of perming.
You can straighten your hair chemically or you can do it with products
that temporarily tame the curls.
Hair straightening should always be performed by a professional.


Fine, lightened or colored hair requires a very mild relaxing formula.
Normal, medium-textured hair requires regular strength relaxers.
Coarse hair requires a strong or super relaxing formula.


Hair Straightening Technique & Tips:



• A hair relaxing formula is applied to the dry hair;

• The formula will be carefully combed through the hair;

• After 5 -8 minutes, the chemicals are completely rinsed
from the hair with warm water;

• A neutralizing formula is applied to the hair;

• The neutralizer is rinsed out;

• The hair is towel dried;

• A conditioner is applied to the hair;

• The relaxed hair needs to be treated with special care;

• Use a detangling/leave in conditioning product;

• Deep conditioning is a must on hair that is chemically relaxed;

• Use a moisturizing shampoo designed for chemically treated hair;

• Limit the use of hot blow dryers and hot styling tools;

• If the hair is severely damaged, do not to apply a chemical relaxer
until the hair is recovered;

• A strong relaxing treatment will last up to 6 months;

• The hair should be relaxed no more than every three months;

• Wait 2-4 weeks before your color your hair.

the hair straighteners are typically stronger than a perm that is formulated for color treated hair. a perm and a relaxer and a straightener are basicly the same thing....same chemicals...except when you perm the hair, you roll the hair onto rollers or rods, but if don't roll the hair in rollers and comb it straight while the perming solution is on, it straightens the hair..the chemical process of restructuring the hair, whether you straighten it or curl it, is the same. you are still restructuring the hair to do something different. so buy a perm, leave out the rolling on rods part, mix according to instructions, comb it though the hair making it straight and you have now taken curl out instead of putting it in.

Back when I used to be a HairClub user (Sigh), they sold me a really bad piece that clearly was permed way too much. Any sign of water, it would curl up like crazy!

Go to Sally Beauty Supply (or a like beauty store) and get "Curl Remover". They will know what you are talking about. It takes about 10 minutes. You wash the hair in two different formulas and dry it.

And boom, you have straight hair! Works awesome.....

It's worth a try!
