RE: Newcomer question
Hi ... I`m not being flippant with you, but I think you need to clarify in your mind, what the initial steps are in terms of ordering.
There are two basic ways of obtaining a system........ either order a ` Stock` [Off-the-shelf] system, or a custom-made one. The choice of base-materials is up to you, when ordering custom-made ........stock systems are a ` standard` size and shape, and all come with a medium density..... they are generally a middle-of-the-road solution to your needs. Some people find them excellent and they fit like a glove, however, for a more accurate fit, to the size and shape of the individual head-shape, custom-made is best. In order for the factory to produce a system to the correct size/shape and area to be covered on your head, it`s necessary to make a template.
There`s no point in getting into ` technicalities` such as contour/s ---just make a template, representative of your original hairline and area needing coverage, and you`ll get a matching-system. Some informative videos here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_q...hairsystem
You ask if it`s necessary to make a template `` if I am going to have my cut-in made by a wig specialist`` ---- again.. I`m not being flippant but the person doing a cut-in, will not be able to alter the shape or curvature of the base, and he or she will simply give you a ` haircut`.
You refer to a TL 700 base ...this is entirely made of thin Polyurethane..there is no other material incorporated into it.. You can have a combination of lace and Polyurethane depending on the thickness of the poly..you`d have to check that with John ..some of the thinner poly materials are not `heavy` enough to `hold` lace .....
I don`t understand exactly what you mean when you say it takes too much time to send the template and then wait for delivery....so do you intend to order a stock system ? All stock units are made of either French lace, or Thin skin, and the following specifications: 8" x 10 "

65% density (medium)

Freestyle Venting

6" Hair Length—Real human Remi Hair

All bleached knots.
Be aware that the front hairline is a standard shape [contour] also.
The only way to be reasonably sure you`ll get a system made to your individual needs [head-shape/curve, and area that needs coverage] is to make a template and send it in, along with a sample of your hair, for color-matching.
I hope that has clarified it a bit for you ....as this is your first order, you`d obviously hope to be reasonably happy with what you get.....there`s no point in rushing in and ordering something that may not meet your requirements....for the sake of another bit of time,I`d advise you to make a template and wait another while.....it can take a little time /effort and even a bit of frustration, but it`s not rocket -science either ....you`ll be happier in the long run, if you make the effort as you`ll get a better-fitting system which is unique to you.
Have a look at this thread ..there`s a photo of my Template there ..just gives you an idea of what you need to make..... http://forum.toplace.com/showthread.php?tid=6375
