I totally agree.

In the past (years ago) I have offered some constructive suggestions to improve the functionality of the forum in use (the Network54 one that is) by switching to a professional solution, like PHPBB, Invision or vBulletin for example. Exactly because of the points you make John : searches, bookmarking and a lot of other essential things. I was really amazed by how some people on the 54 one reacted on those suggestions really (most reactions were very defensive and even taken personally sometimes) and I decided to stop putting anymore energy in constructively offering my insights in setting up and managing professional websites (especially forums).

When the (paid) clubforum was set up at the time I wondered why there was a need for 2 separate forums? Again, with this new PHPBB forum history repeats itself and I wonder the same. Why does a company need 2 forums, even powered by 2 different platforms? What I said years ago still stands IMHO : holding on to the network54 'solution' is holding on to a problem. From my point of view, an upgrade was needed years ago really, indeed.

And I say this in the best interest of Toplace. Curious to find out if I get slaugthered again now... Wink

Etc.

Setting up this new PHPBB board and sticking to 1 professional, mature solution is the way to go obviously, as others and myself constructively suggested years ago.
