Hi Viserion - yes the extra strip of empty lace at the front is standard. Cut it off carefully with a very sharp pair of scissors - nail scissors are ideal. Some guys cut right up to the front hairs, which is best for undetectability but will lead to a bit of shedding in time. Others leave an intact millimetre or two in front of the front hair to avoid the shedding issue. Either is OK.
