Phoenix, getting a piece like that is totally unacceptable. I'm shocked just to see how badly it shed leaving the gaping bare spot in the middle. You should get a replacement and a refund from whoever sold you that crap. Ive heard about these Koreans too and how they are supposedly top notch, but it clearly isn't the case here.
