Can anyone recommend a base design for ordering a full lace hairpiece for use by someone who has a lot of their own hair?

My SO is trying to get a new wig for a historical reinactment costume. She ordered from Toplace a few years ago, liked what she got, and was wondering if the state of the art has advanced any since then.
