Slow response to email? And questions for those in the know!
How long does it normally take for toplace to reply? I have already paid for my piece but not sent the template as I had problems with the last one and now unsure of what template to use. So I have emailed them but 2 days later no response.

Maybe someone on here can help me.

Is it possible to have a piece made with only a very thin piece of lace for the hairline. I wanted to try and cut 2 maybe 3 pieces out.

I feel I have 3 choices either

Choice 1 -
one long straight strip of lace that wont be the perfect fit as I really want more of a horseshow shape,
but at least I can maybe cut it into 3 seperate pieces.

Choice 2
Make the template a perfect fit but as the template is very small I will be paying full price for a very small piece that probably wont last long

Choice 3 -
Make the horseshow shape continuous (i.e make one larger template out of 2 horseshoe templates).

The 3rd option is my prefered choice as I will get 2 maybe 3 pieces out of it but I dont know if the factory can make something like that as it will only have hair on the outside.

My personal opinion is that whilst I understand the reasoning behind wanting to save as much money as you can, in the end it may be a false economy.
I think you have to put it out of your mind that what you are paying for a small piece is the same as it would be for a larger piece.

You have to ask yourself if it is worth what it will cost you to solve a problem and make you feel better about yourself.

There are big advantages to having a piece that fits perfectly and that you don't have to cut up & mess around with. ie) Choice 2.

If you go for one of the alternatives, you might initially save money, but the simplest mistake in cutting could mean that you've wasted all your money and not got anything like what you wanted.

Further down the line, you could rethink it and maybe go for Choice 3 because by then you will have a better idea of what you need the piece to do for you.

Its just my opinion and best of luck.

You`re `caught` mainly by the fact that you need a substantial amount of grey put in, therefore it will have to be custom-made. In the overall scheme of things, I have to concur with what Hersute pointed out... the cost of these systems are very reasonable compared to what would be gouged out of you if you were to go the Salon-supplied route [usually anyway] and would be paying multiples of what you`ve paid Toplace, but I totally `get` that a partial can seem expensive compared to a Topper as they are both approx. the same price even though the partial is often less than half the size.... having given this a bit of thought, I think it`s worth pointing out the following: Toppers are graduated-density at the front, so as not to draw visual attention to a `wall`of hair ...the very front bit is thinner and then rises[graduated] to a higher density as you `go back`.Partials are normally just a narrow strip so graduation doesn`t enter the equation. If I were you, I think what I might do is make a Template as normal, as if you were going for a Topper.....specify Non-graduated but you will HAVE TO specify the correct density to match your own hair [ post a pic of your front there with the face blanked out if you like and I and others can advise on what to order] .....that way, you get a uniform density all over the Topper.....you can then trim your partial from the Topper and hopefully, because the density on the remaining part will be correct and it will also be trimmed to the correct shape, you should be able to make at least a second partial from the one Topper..... no matter what way it goes, you`ll definitely get at least one partial with the front hairline looking good as the ventilation there will be correct..if I saw your present hair I`d be better-able to give `better`answer...maybe to put it more simply---- get a normal [full-size ]Topper --the front hairline will be correct shape and style [ventilation-direction]......you`ll trim it back behind the very front to whatever width you need, and the remaining part should be ok to possibly fashion a second one from.....hopefully that wasn`t too confusing !! Regards, Paul.

RE: Slow response to email? And questions for those in the know!
thanks peeps.

I have thought of cutting a partial but all the part9als I have seen have still loads of hair and lace. Not sure how easy it would be to cut it.

To give you an dea of what I'm after its only about 1.5cm in depth and would run about2 inches across. This is because I would have to place it along side my existing harline.

I still think the best route is shaving what hair I have at the front and that way I can get more of a part in my hair (down the middle) and I can then still use all my top and sides to make it a curtain style look. I rock that look but it doesnt look right, just a wall of hair in no particular style.

Shaving is a big step and I'm sure most on here have done it but at the mo I dont think I can do it, this is what I'm looking for such a small piece so at least I can part it a bit and maybe cut some of my long hair exposing a little hairline and forhead which I've pretty much covered for years.

Baby steps I guess....

Hersute is right about that. I have responded to your email---maybe it got hung up in your spam filter. Also, I been getting a lot of emails from customers that are promoting products for various companies. I hope customers won't send these as they just clog up the email response time to legitimate emails.

Thanks John, but I've checked my spam nothing. I just not sure what to send you if anything.

Remember when the factory said they couldn't make the template I wanted. well would it be possible to make a small round template but not have hair in the middle.

See fantastic attached picture.

I can really see that what you are describing and illustrating, on the surface, appears to be even less than an entire topper and therefore would justify it being the same price.
But you should also consider that the majority of skill & expertise goes in to the contouring & ventilation of the front section of a hair piece.
What you are asking for, is for that to be duplicated twice and then joined together.
I'm no expert, but I imagine that there would be more work involved in doing that, than just the standard creation of a single hair piece.
There may be other companies that might be willing to take on such a complicated specialist request, but not at the lower price you would be paying through Toplace and therefore you would probably wind up paying more per section.

Please try and remember that even though your piece is very small, when it comes to it needing a replacement, we're all in exactly the same position.
But its the price we all pay to get what we want, no matter what size piece we need.
My custom size is probably 2/3 of a standard topper, but I don't to pay 2/3 of the standard price.
I pay what I'm happy to pay, to get what I need & want.

Unfortunately, your request is a niche one and therefore you are unlikely to be able to benefit from the sort of discounted prices that can be applied to larger volume, more mainstream demand.
My suggestion is that you get your initial piece made, try it, consider (if necessary) future alterations and then possibly negotiate a discount for a multiple order, further down the line.

I agree with Hersute`s observations.... this would not be straightforward at all and would be `specialist` so adding to the costs..... I`d simply make a normal-sized topper-template and when your system arrives, just trim off/ cut-out the required partial from the front.....see what the remaining part looks like---you may well be able to fashion a second partial thus making a very economical solution to your issue..... RE: Slow response to email? And questions for those in the know!
Just dampen your hair and slick it back/down as much as you can....the front bit will be the most important as that`s what you`ll be eventually exposing.... most Toppers are oval shaped.... I think you said you need to cover some hair loss in the temple areas too..... just make it so that you take in the temple areas and just go backwards from there with it towards the crown-point where it will curve to a `finish`...... you`ll be trimming off the partial from the front section when your topper arrives, so that`s the most important bit to have accurate. Have a look at Snipe`s post on template-making... http://forum.toplace.com/showthread.php?...light=fred It will be important to get/ mark the hair-direction [ventilation] correctly and specify correct density....enclosing a pic with your template of a style which you`d like to copy will help the factory....... hopefully you`ll be able to get a 2nd partial from the remainder of the topper, once you`ve trimmed off the `proper`one.....
