1) I live in the Caribbean (Dominican Republic) so it´s always hot and humid all year long. I even sweat without doing anything at home
2) I suffer from hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
3) I play tennis at a NCAA Div 1 level about 4 times a week. Love to do outdoor sports, go to the beach, go to the pool.

I´ve been using proThik to cover my thinning hair. Im thinking about getting a system, but I want to hear your opinion first regarding my excessive sweating. I decided to stop using proThik because my hair has gotten thinner and thinner to the point where trying to cover it up looks a little ridiculous now. But also because my scalp becomes a mess after a workout or a swim and I start messing everything (pillow, clothes, towels, hats) I touch with brown dust.
I know TopLace claims that sweating and swimming is no problem, but so does proThik in their page.
What do you guys think? Is it worth it for a guy like me to get a system? If you are a excessive sweater please advise.

how did prothick do with sweating ?

as far as wearing...I sweat very much during over 2 hrs a day of exercise..Ive used tape and glue...both for me..if get a lil loose.. ya can press down hard and it resticks..or you could use deorderient on the scalp..or a scalp protector..which I do.,

prothik works to a point with sweating ...
but you have to seal it ... using that blue can
men's hair spray that walmart sells for 3 bucks
is perfect ...

But prothik by itself ... well ... everytime you
scratch your head ... you'll have dirty fingernails ...

and sometimes ... if you don't use hair spray ..
you'll get a very unrealistic and distracting white
'frosting' on your head

The biggest issue that I have with sweating is not the bond loosening, it is that the system hair will stay dry while the side hair & back hair is sopping wet. This can look odd, there are workarounds like spritzing your system hair with water or using a "wet look" gel. Lately I've been wearing my hair very short on sides and back, this seems to be less of an issue. The short hair doesn't look much different when wet, unlike longer hair.

You do need to be cool and dry while attaching, if you're sweating the glues and tapes won't stick well. IMO blue lace tape will hold through anything, it can be a pain to clean if left on past 2 - 3 days. ST30 works as well for some who say it also is easier to clean up.

hows prothick work with gel ?? or should I use hairspray ?

I've used prothik with gel (Dep - Orange - Extra Hold)
and Hair Spray ....

Hair Spray will give you some volume (whatever hairs
you have left ... some air ... the ice cream concept -
Ice cream is 80 percent air) ....

The gel ... will give you a slicked back look and hold

The gel by itself .. will not take care of the frosting that
occurs with inconsistent batches of prothik which leave the
factory ....

I've had cans of dark brown prothik come out like copper
rust ....sometimes a totally unnatural look that looks normal
under incandescent or flourescent lighting ... but looks like
dust in your head once you go outdoors or in the sun .....

Sometimes .. you might even want to use a dab of mousse ...
because the hair spray makes your hair stiff ...

and sometimes the batch
of prothik you're using isn't up to specs ....

So the mouse will soften the feel of your hair (real or created
hair) to the touch ...

although in NYC .. I don't exactly have people walking up to me
on the street and stroking my hair ....

Something is going on with Prothik over the last month or so
... I've had a few bad cans shipped to me (no propellant)
.... wrong orders ...

and Jeff .. the owner of Prothik - who was like BA all these years
with phenomenal customer service ... well .. his company must have
grown so big ... he is neglecting whatever problems his factory is
having (shipping, inconsistancies in product quality .. wrong orders
going out) ..... typical Growing pains ....

but like hair wearers or hair concealer guys .... you are aware ...
we gotta have our product .... when we need it
heck ... as much as we hate to admit it ... appearance in
many professions is important ... studies link it to trust ... etc ..

and remember .. it wasn't but a few short years ago ... if you
shaved your head .. you were catagorized a neo nazi .. a moonie
... a cult member ... or was going through chemo ....

now ... you're just cool .... at least if the lord blessed you
with a good looking shaved dome instead of something
that looks like the bare butt of an orangatang ...

I just got a can of Prothik and I like it much better than Fullmore. (Or at least I do on a single use.) It's "black" is actually black, and it seems to coat the hair less, which for seam blending is not what I really want.

So, I have to say that at the moment, I use Toppik, DermMatch, or Prothik, depending on the issue that needs to be corrected.

If forced to chose only two, I'd stick with Toppik and DermMatch at the moment.

The advantage of Prothik over DermMatch is that DermMatch is more work to apply, and also if after you've styled your hair, gelled it, and let it dry, you notice a little bald spot, the spot can be next to impossible to get to with DermMatch. If it's on the spot is on the top of your head, you can use Toppik, but as seam blends are more likely to be on the side or back of your head, Toppik doesn't work so well as it relies on gravity to apply.

I have just took a shower with Prothik on my head, and I can now vouch that it, like DermMatch, is waterproof.
