Looking for thin skin, poly skin, some kind of skin?
I need to order for my husband- isn't he a lucky guy for me to do it for him- anyway I am not happy with the last batch he ordered. I have nothing against the newer unit, I just think my husband's hair is too dark for this particular base. The "skin" part is white and thicker then the other kind I ordered a few years ago. And the injection is so uniform you can see the rows of hair in angled lines . It kind of looks like my leg hair stubble (in rows of course) when I have not shaved- what a lovely picture that brings to mind.

Anyway. the batch (3) that I ordered has a cap that is skin colored and when on the head you CAN NOT tell it is a unit by being able to count the rows of black hair. They are injected just like on the other unit, but they don't look like hair on top of stubble or really dark lace. They are a real pieces of art as far as units go. Does anyone know what I might have in both instances. I can't stand the white ones and I hate making my husband feel uncomfortable by staring at them and holding back, "Oh, your unit looks like leg stubble".

It looks like it could be polyskin base, but his did not have ventilation holes, of course we had these really good ones about 3 years ago (I still have them, hoping I can get the red out of them so they can be re-used) so maybe they have changed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I think I can see part of the problem, the hair is not injected as far into the cap so you can see the tip of it, thus the stubble. On the other one it is injected deeper inside the skin so you can even see the pattern on the inside.

I think the older unit has single injected hair and the new one has knotted hair instead, what you think looks like stubble are all the little knots.
Knotted hair is ok if you want more volume but if you don't want the knots to be visible you'll have to order a piece with a very high density.

Does he show his hairline? How does the skin look at the front hairline just curious.

Well, his hair pattern is weird. He has hair in the front, just enough for wispy bangs and he pulls down a little more to blend in with his real hair. It looks great- except for those darned knots. If it were not for those knots you would NEVER know it was a unit. This is coming from someone even more critical on his units then he is. I am very particular.

High density would look ridiculous. I guess I need to find out which is the single injected hair units. That answer really helped.

Thanks,

I think the previous poster was right. The hair may have been knotted instead of injected. I had a similar result on a piece I had repaired. The original hair is injected quite flawlessly, but the hair-adds look like that: with dark, thick roots.

If you find a way to avoid that look, please post it up, as I'm a fan of the injected skin bases and would love to have the realistic injected look again.
