I have dark-blond hair and would like to get a unit with some light blond highlights to achieve something like that:

It would be a topper but it would be quite narrow due to my think and high-reaching sides/back.
1. The question is – how do I go about it? Order a unit with highlights and then hope highlighting my own hair will produce the same shade as on the unit?
Order no-highlight unit and then just do the highlights globally?

2. Another question is – can I order highlights that do not start at the ‘root’ of the hair to simulate growth of the hair that occurred after highlighting?

3. And can one do highlighting by oneself or needs to visit a stylist?

4. Do highlights fade on units?
