Entering the hair system game was the best thing I ever did but... - rich_uk - 11-19-2013 ...it seems that I have reached a fork in the road. To give you a bit of a back story, in my teens I always had very thick hair and spent time and money making sure it looked good. I was known for having good hair and tried my hardest to ensure it stayed that way. When I was 21 I thought I noticed a slight recession in my temples...surely not? That's what I thought until it became very clear that I had some temple/hairline recession though it was barely Norwood II. However given that I have meticulous in my styling, any slight change was a big deal for me so just before my 22nd birthday I consulted with a hair system specialist who suggested that if I really wanted to, I could have a couple of tiny temple partials. And suffice to say that this made an instant impression and I couldn't imagine not having them. However it has been 2 years since I had the partials and my recession has increased, not only in the hairline but substantial loss on the crown - a bog standard Norwood IIIvertex I would say. I have been using Nanogen for the last 18 months but it's gone from masking slight baldness to looking like a bad haircut. I know I will have to take the plunge for a topper sooner or later, but between the receding hairline and the balding crown there is some good hair. What do you folks suggest...is a front partial coupled with a crown partial a sensible option? Has anyone on here faced a similar problem? I'd love to hear from you, this forum has helped me to be where I am today. Cheers, Rich RE: Entering the hair system game was the best thing I ever did but... - LTB - 11-20-2013 I can see no reason not to use a frontal and crown partial? Sure it would give you slightly more work but I also see no reason to shave good hair to accommodate a full topper. RE: Entering the hair system game was the best thing I ever did but... - antywanty - 11-20-2013 I rekon the majority of advice from here and, consultations would be a partial, covering the hairline back to the crown"a topper" its likely that the recession will continue, even if It didn't a topper covering most of youre scalp would blend far better than partials, and colour matching could become more of a issue. been there, felt the pain, never gonna happen to me, it bloody did, I tried all the meds, propecia , ect ect best thing bar a really good hair transplant enjoy , I do RE: Entering the hair system game was the best thing I ever did but... - rich_uk - 11-20-2013 Thanks for the replies chaps. My conundrum is that because my hair was naturally thick (before it decided to start falling out), I have good thick hair between the hairline and the crown recession, along with good hair on the side. This is why I'm more inclined to go with two partials, though I will discuss this with my stylist. I'm lucky in that I have jet black hair so colour matching shouldn't be too bad. I will post pictures soon so that you can decide for yourself. The front partials have been easy to look after...I tend to wear during the week and debond/rebond at the weekend. Is it feasible to wear toppers for 24hrs a day/5 days a week? Cheers Rich RE: Entering the hair system game was the best thing I ever did but... - antywanty - 11-20-2013 yes wearing toppers ,some wearers including me wear for up to 3weeks @ a time, touching up as we go, ie hairline lift, or discolouration in the adhesive to give a new clear transparent, fresh bond. depends on the humidity, tempature in youre region, country. and personal body chemistry, whether you have a very oily scalp, or perspire a lot. theres tons of advice on the forum, just search, adhesive, bond, ect regards anty ![]() |
