Some Interesting Viewpoints ...on video - thecount - 09-29-2008 The more you search the dusty corners of the internet .. the more opinions, ideas, etc pop up regarding hair wearing ... Before I first contacted TopLace, I saw Hair Direct as being the least expensive solution I had found up to that point that seemed to have a semblance of quality (although if you read into the HD site, to get the lowest prices, you are back into a plan) John from Toplace was one of the first to mention Farrell systems to me. I was clueless as to who or what Farrell was .. and then I went to their website and was not very impressed with the hairlines on his models (well, I did not want that done to me). It seems from the photos posted ... they specialize in this rigid, formulated, unrealistic Frankenstein front hairline. (Hey .. It wasn't me that put the photos on their site) ... And being long-haired myself (some of which is still actually mine ![]() I looked at the amazing Job Di Di was able to achieve on me with the help of John and B.A.'s ordering and quality control .... And I looked at Farrell's longhaired models as being kind of scary ... like the guys who try to panhandle me in Washington Square Park for loose change every night as I make my way home .... I just happened upon this Farrell video ... which I would have found interesting myself had someone pointed it out ... First .. look at the client's hairstyle and listen to them talk about the mailorder hair places ... their competition ... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 9054&hl=en Obviously .. they can't be including TopLace .... Because at B.A.'s Windsor convention, I saw some examples (Buckeye, Xbadboy, Lino) that blew away what I deemed was possible ... there is NO WAY anyone could tell they were wearing .... And as far as customer service .... Well .. I met several dissatisfied ex Farrell clients at the convention, one of whom was too embarrassed to wear his 3 thousand dollar investment out in public .... Heck ... it's just choices ... You can buy a piece through the mail / internet ... and if you have excellent customer service (which is RARE) ... well ... listen to the happy customer's comments on this forum ... Or you can buy a similar piece .. while paying someone's high overhead, big city's rents, promotions and advertising .. you may get the same piece ... but THAT COMPANY HAS TO CHARGE YOU TEN TIMES more ... I charge a reasonable fee for EXTRAORDINARY RESULTS .. but one of my competitors who never get results, gets a minute 'air-time' on the big tv network news-shows ... His rates shoot through the roof ... but his skill set and service may remain sub-par .... Times are a-changing ... You don't always GET what you paid for. The Japanese gave the Big American Car Manufacturers a real wake up call years ago .. when they were able to turn out cars at far less cost, that required less service .. and rarely broke down ... And .. if you read this far ... have a shot of Jack on me ! ![]() Just my Sunday Rant ... Re: Some Interesting Viewpoints ...on video - Mr.Burns - 09-29-2008 Yes mate, I remember watching this one before and cringing! He actually seems almost aggressive in the video, like he knows he's gotta fight to stay alive! As some other people have said on this forum, "the games up" ![]() Re: Some Interesting Viewpoints ...on video - Tapehead - 09-29-2008 There will always be a place for pricier full-service salons or hair clubs. Some people have more money than patience or interest in messing around with all these details, orders, etc. at home. The difference now is just more options and there are no longer as many industry "secrets". Re: Some Interesting Viewpoints ...on video - Xeon005 - 10-01-2008 I believe its a simple concept that applies to all companies, businesses outside of the hair wearing game. The point we realize is a mute one. They are getting their products from Chinese factories for a low cost, marketing it, and selling it here at a high cost. Its like if there was a vendor online selling nike air jordans for 40 dollars, your going to be like OMGGG,, Why am i spending 500 at foot locker?? toplace, and other online companies are just being a smaller middle man, connecting you to the Chinese factories at a lower cost. now the only diff between online company A, online company B, and the hair salon, is how big the middle man is. Salons have higher costs obviously, but want to make more money as well.. Online companies are getting that way too. The bigger the online companies the higher the prices. You can get hair systems online for 50 dollars each to 800 plus dollars each.. Even online it varies. Re: Some Interesting Viewpoints ...on video - ToplaceUSA - 10-01-2008 Interesting side note here: Farrell had the American Hair Loss Association endorsement on his website as of last week--he even said that he was the only hair company that had the endorsement of the AHLA. It's not there any more. |
