Re: THE acid test...Holiday photos! - Jonesy123 - 12-19-2008 Quote:Yeah it is--- but I already told you that it is not difficult to get and maintain a good color match. Ok, point taken. Quote:Hi Jonesy, I guesss you have to ask yourself if a natural looking hairpiece (even though that is not looking your best) will be an improvement on how you look and feel about yourself now. If yes, why not just go for it? Yes it will be an improvement. I am going for it, but I'm doing what you're saying below. Quote:Or if you are not sure, maybe you can do what I'm gonna do. I'm ordering a piece once I get a template done. When it arrives, I will see if it blends well with my hair. (send it back if it doesn't). After that, I'm going to keep the piece until the day I feel that the maintainance of wearing the piece will be a worthwhile jump from my current thinning hair.(I'm also kinda scared of shaving my hair) But from what I see from this forum, the maintainance seems to get easier as you get the hang of it. Yes this seems to be the best strategy. First get things perfect, then apply. I too am scared about the shaving part, there is NO going back after that. No concealer will save you from a shaved top... Quote:I think maybe your main concern is something might go wrong without someone to guide you? This too. this entire first time of doing everything is very scary. I have to take a template while I still have my hair, and it makes things inaccurate. Then shaving the top to match the hairpiece (which will be done by a stylist), then applying the wig an hoping it will blend well. Then attaching it myself... lots of things could go wrong... That's an understatement. This week, I went for nights out on Wed, Thurs and tonight. My hair had to be removed, cleaned and reattached on Wed night. BEFORE I had started wearing, I thought this kind of situation would be a disaster, and would be nervous about getting a piece. You would think it's a big deal, cos I work every day and have to keep my hair looking good, and also manage to get some sleep... Here is what I did: - out wednesday night - leave pub at 12.45am (relatively early really!!) - remove piece, mirror slide, shampoo piece. Magazine slide on head (all took 30 mins) - Sleep - Get up, shower, attach piece + style (all took 30 mins) - Go to work in time, then out again after work for Christmas party To me, that is as easy as a normal shower... only a little longer No stress whatsoever. I did all of the above. I got my piece in November 2005, and didn't shave and attach until February 06. I had to ready myself. I had to accept I was shaving, and that I was doing this. And I was going to make it work! Positive attitude... And do you know what? Nothing went wrong. All my fears disippated when I realised I could do it. MBs video was priceless and was the magic ingredient that made everything fit together. And it was scary, the first couple of months were a little bit tricky sometimes, but when you get past that... no looking back. It's just part of your life and you don't think about it anymore. You just start to believe that you have hair... it's no big deal. You're entitled to hair, just like everyone else! What did you feel in the first day wearing it ?, what did people say ?, did it look natural from the strat ?, what were your difficulties at the first weeks ?, were you nervous ?, did you feel people can spot it ?, please elaborate. Re: THE acid test...Holiday photos! - klifford - 12-20-2008 Jonesy, Where are you located ? Maybe one of the experienced weares on here lives close enough and would be willing to come give you a hand when you get your first piece. You can do it man. Hey, if I can do it, anybody can! Re: THE acid test...Holiday photos! - Mr.Burns - 12-20-2008 I've just realised I've posted the entire history of how Mr.Burns came into being in just two posts! Woah... brings back some good (and also some scary) memories of my first times wearing! If you still have questions after reading all that, don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to help you mate, I know the early days can be nerve wracking... Re: THE acid test...Holiday photos! - klifford - 12-20-2008 Jonesy, With all the advice and photos available to you from experienced wearers and MB's video (a must for newbies) you can can do it. Not saying it's easy. There is a learning curve and you will get frustrated at times but in the end you will be glad you did it. If you over-analyze and worry about "this and that" you will never be able to move forward. Don't be a prisoner to your fears. You just have to stop thinking and fretting about it and like the ad says "Just do it". You can't put a price on the boost to your confidence and self esteem the improvement in your appearance will give you.
