Hey Chickenliver,
Looking at your situation is similar to the decision i had to make i am so glad i did not wait just shaving some of my hair off and wearing a partial was stressful enough, i wear a piece behind my front forelock of hair so no worries about the hair line and i can still wear the same style i had when i had all my hair the just blends seamlessly into the front. looking at you pics 65% looks like a good place to start. i would however had 6 inches of hair on the piece this gives you stylist plenty to play with and blend into your own hair.
As for the pics of what you trying to achieve i am not sure looking at your pics you have enough hair at the temples to pull that look off. would need to see a picture of you from the side,
If i was you i would just place a piece behind maybe a few inches back and slowly as your front hair recedes add a few inches onto the base when needed.
