It doesn't have to be perfect. The most important thing is to make sure that the edges are where you want them to be. The rest of it is to give them a general idea of your head shape. They do follow it pretty closely but they don't follow the minute curvatures of bubbles, if that makes sense.

As far as ventilation goes unless you are planning on specifically doing a spiky style I would just order forward from the crown.
