Shower, showerhead, water filtration... - NoHairNoFair - 05-22-2014

I ordered my first system and thought investing in a better shower head would be worthwhile. I live in New York City and I notice my shower curtains always build up a white film on them(not sure if that's more due to bar soap). But I want my systems to last long since I don't really have a job, just go to school and work part time. I came across this after a quick amazon search. It reduces chlorine, impurities, and softens the water, which I read is good for systems, inexpensive too.
What do you guys think? Is this what I'm looking for, or is their something better?
