Oily Scalp / humidity - lzlmt - 11-26-2011

Hello...I am very new to all of this. I live in Houston, Tx a city that gets very HOT and HUMID during the summer and our summers last more than your typical 3 months. I have a swiss lace system...(no one has seen me wearing it yet) I noticed when I have it on the tape does not hold very well due to the fact I have a very oily scalp and the humidity....I bought some glue, but OMG so hard to work with...I know I will have to practice and try different ways to attach...does anyone on this forum live in Houston?
Any help for this amateur?

Want to swop places ? I love the heat/sun... I`m deffo in the wrong place !! lol.
Now to business ! Firstly, well-done on making the leap..it can be a very tough thing to do, but you`ve done it now so keep going forward. As you`ll have read, we all have different `tales`of what works/doesn`t work in terms of adhesives etc. There are many tutorials on Youtube which may help you ... http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=applying+glue+to+scalp+for+a+lace+wig&oq=applying+glue+to+scalp+for+a+lace+wig&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=s&gs_upl=3916l16160l0l19052l39l39l1l27l28l1l381l2690l0.4.1.6l11l0
There are SO many different glues and tapes it can be a bit mind-boggling, but persevere with it and you`ll find what suits you best...... it`s not possible to give an exact factual recommendation on one glue over another ....but if you go to a few different suppliers sites, there is generally information pertaining to each product and expected bond-duration.... as you have an oily scalp, you could try `scalp-protector` [Debbie sells it from her site which is http://www.splitendshairreplacement.com ] or Davlyn is another brand http://www.google.ie/search?aq=1&oq=davlyn+skin+&gcx=c&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=davlyn+skin+protector+%26+scalp+prep some guys say these scalp-protectors were of no help, others have great results--again, it`s a case of `suck `em and see`...it`s pretty cheap anyway....... try a different tape too...some guys highly-recommend `Blue liner`tape for a really strong hold.....there are numerous threads/posts down the forum regarding all the various ones...... maybe a good tape around your perimeter and just glue at the front will be easier for you..... glue can be tricky/messy when you`re a newbie, but just take your time with it..apply it thinly, whilst sitting in a cool room [to prevent sweating] allow each layer to almost dry, and then press the lace onto/into it when the last coat has gone very tacky [almost dry] Hope that helps...Paul.
